I am Mary Richmond. I grew up in Hyannis here on Cape Cod and raised my own family here in Hyannis as well. I am an artist, writer, naturalist and educator and like many Cape Codders I wear many hats all through the year. It is a good life.
You can usually find me tromping around outside, often with a bunch of kids in tow and I almost always have my sketchbook, pen and camera as well as my binoculars.
The dog in the picture is my little corgi, Arlo, my partner in crime.

I am way behind on my reading of your columns, but we save every one before and after reading. I just got to your column describing your walk with your grandson (Enterprise 4/13/12). What a treasure that column is! Thank you again for all your wonderful observations of the beauties of nature and in this case the exuberant curiousity of your companion that day.
I truly enjoy your nature writings in the Cape Codder. Your work and observations create a clear springboard for me to get out and revel in the Cape’s natural beauty. The blog, website and photography bring the spirit of the Cape’s natural world closer. Thank You for enhancing the real culture of our environment.
